Why We Love Rancho Park

Rancho Park is an incredible neighborhood conveniently hidden away from the notoriously congested Westside traffic. It feels like a getaway, but without compromising on access to places like Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles, and Culver City. It’s home to many young professionals and families, and conveniently located next to Century and near the Westfield Mall. Visitors often frequent the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center and Rancho Park Golf Course to appreciate the beautiful greenery. Whether you’re looking to walk around to shop on Pico or visit nearby areas, there’s always something to do in Rancho Park.

Did you know that Ranch Park began as a cattle range with the name Rancho Rincón de los Bueyes, or “the corner of the oxen”?

It eventually became fields of beans and citrus orchards that produced LA’s early exports. It was purchased by residential developers to accommodate the growing need for quiet streets away from the busyness of Downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. After Olympic Boulevard extended through Westwood in 1936, residents south of Olympic decided to break ties with the northern half and create their own community of Rancho Park.
Rancho Park has some interesting facts and trivia to its name. For example, Tiger Woods is one of two people to tie the Rancho Park Golf Course record, and he broke the existing record at the age of 13 in 1989. Rancho Park is one of the few districts in Los Angeles where you can see fall foliage, thanks to the large deciduous trees along the streets. It also has faux 19th century street lights lining the streets, giving it a more distinctive personality.
